This semester in ENC 1102, I have learned a lot that will help me in the future. One of the many skills I have developed that will carry over in my life, is the ability to find good reliable sources for my research. In high school I never really evaluated the sources that I used in my papers. If they sounded credible then I just assumed they were and used the information in my paper without thinking twice. This course has allowed me to analyze the sources and take everything into consideration to determine if the source is credible enough to include in my paper or project at hand. Another valuable thing I have learned in this course, is analyzing adds or papers. In class we have done a lot of activities that will help me to develop new ideas about adds or multimedia projects that I would have never noticed before. Many of the activities in class students were pointing out details that would have never crossed my mind before. Because of these activities, I am able to look more closely at articles and adds and looking at the deeper meaning behind them rather than what is just clear on the surface. Both of these things will help me further in life because analyzing is a good skill to have, whether I am analyzing the details and deeper meanings of something or analyzing information. It will help me through out my life.

The directed audience for this ad, is pretty much everyone. Anyone who drinks coca cola products will stop and look at the ad if they see it in a magazine or a somewhere on the streets. This ad uses Pathos to grab the audience's attention and pull them in. It is using pathos by using comedy. The man is looking for his coke that had disappeared and although we see the penguin behind the chair, he can not. A lot of younger people will find this advertisement more humorous or appealing than older people may because it kind of has a child's sense of humor in stealing the drink and hiding from the man in the beach chair. The look on the man's face also helps the ad because he looks as if he is completely devastated over his drink. Most people would not have that reaction if there drink was missing but his face looks like it's the end of the world and he is completely mortified that it has disappeared. The beach and the penguin also contrast the two ideas. The coke on the beach is showing that it is cool and refreshing in the hot sun but the penguin is showing how cold the coke actually is, considering there were always a lot of penguins in the older ads for coca cola products. With all of these elements combined, it helps give a picture of the coca cola products by appealing to everyone but mainly a child's sense of humor.

My add is used to advertise for a 6 year olds birthday party. I used simple language and pictures to gain the attention of the young children. I did not use many words but rather images and bright colors to grab the attention since the audience would be young and give more of their attention to pictures and colors rather than what the invitation is actually saying. The birthday cake and balloons would get them excited to attend the party and have fun with all the other young children who are just as excited as the child reading the invitation would be. My advertisement however could not load on this website but I used bright blue writing and pictures of balloons in blue, red, yellow and green and also a birthday cake to grab the attention of the children.

The Vow is an extremely amazing story based on true life events. When a loving couple experiences a traumatic accident, they are forced to build their love back up from scratch when the his loving wife develops memory loss. She doesn't even remember the man that she once was in love with but his with his love still in his heart, he tries everything in his power to make her realize why they fell in love in the first place. With a lot of drama throughout the movie, they grow apart before they can ever grow back together. They will go through trials and tribulations to an unbelievable extent. The movie creates an explosive reaction from people of all backgrounds and all types. The heart wrenching movie makes you picture life in a special way and cherish the people you love and care about. It makes you picture your life in that position and question what you would do and how you would deal with a life changing event like they are faced with. This movie is a must see and will make your heart melt at the sight of all the love in Channing Tatum's heart. Not only is it a must see for woman of all ages but almost anyone can enjoy a movie of this caliber.

1. It's okay to say things that the instructor might disagree with

I agree with this statement. A good professor will not care that you disagree with their opinions as long as you have factual reasoning backing up why you feel the way you do. Some students believe that if they agree with the professor they will receive a better grade, and in the past with some teachers, I felt the need to do that as well. Unfortunately some teachers have tunnel vision and only want to focus on what they believe in but a good professor will over look the different opinions and concentrate on the story as a whole and whether or not you have factual information along to back up the paper and an argument that states why you believe the way you do.

2. The paper won't be revised substantially

I disagree with this statement because ALL papers should be revised. Without revision it is easy to overlook little details like misspellings, commas, periods. It can also be very easy to overlook bigger issues like sentences that don't fit or contradictions in the paper. Your grade can be improved a whole letter grade just by looking over the paper for mistakes and problems. No papers should be taken from your mind, written down on paper, and turned in for a grade. That is just setting yourself up for a disappointment and a plethora of mistakes. There should be at least two to three revisions of every paper until you are satisfied with the results and ready to turn in the assignment to be graded.

Research papers have never been my favorite type of paper to write. They have always intimidated me by meeting a certain amount of requirements, and sources, and ideas. I always have felt pressured to include exactly what the teacher was looking for rather than being able to freely write. One experience that comes directly to mind is the dreaded "Senior Research Paper". In my high school, that was the worst thing imaginable. Before working on the project, I was extremely anxious and nervous because of the opinions I had always heard about her grading and the requirements she has for the paper. When the time came and we started on the paper, it was not as bad as I predicted it to be. Although a little more anxiety was present than the normal papers written, I was more overwhelmed because of what others were saying rather than the paper itself.
To answer the other question of the prompt, some research I do in my everyday life would have to be shopping. Although that may sound a little ridiculous, I am constantly checking bebe.com for the new clothes coming out, or the prices of everything, trying to find the best deal. When I find something I love, I look at the price and try to find the relatively the same object from my favorite stores and that helps me find the cheapest price on the article of clothing. I guess in a way you could say that was researching. I even have many different shopping apps on my phone! Too bad this type of researching causes a problem instead of helping one!

This ad is specifically directed towards men and woman over the age of twenty one. By using a gorgeous female in the ad, the company is able to grab the attention of males and persuade them to actually read what the product is. The ad on the other hand also grabs the attention of health conscious women by advertising the attractive and FIT woman on the ad. The beer is a light version and the text under the picture reads, "I work out and take care of myself. But I also like a cold beer once in a while. That's why I made the smart choice with a smart beer. Stampede Light. It's beer plus." By advertising this way, they are telling woman who are worried about the way they look that it is okay to drink a beer or two. Many women will find this ad appealing because it allows them to enjoy themselves while feeling as if they are not hurting themselves health wise. The colors are bright and colorful and grabs the attention of the reader. Also by putting the country background to the advertisement, it makes people feel like they can relate to the laid back country setting. It also grabs the attention of the busy person by giving them an idea that the beer will allow them to relax and feel as if they are living a care free life. All these things together help persuade the readers over the age of twenty one to buy this beer to remain heath conscious and to enjoy themselves.
